The former flames met each other when Kelly moved to New York and joined Juilliard School to learn drama. It was love at first sight for both of them and a year later they decided to take the marriage vows. The duo walked down the aisle on April 14, 1979. According to the actress, she married Boyd to regain the approval and trust of her parents.

Everything seemed fine in their relationship. But, unfortunately, they couldn’t sustain their marriage for very long, so, they divorced in 1981. Black and McGillis were together for just 1 and a half years and they didn’t welcome any kids during those years.
