Tamera and her sister Tia first participated in beauty pageants and talent shows while both of their parents were stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. Later, when they turned 12, the twin sister asked their mother to relocate to California so that they could begin their journey in the film industry.

Afterward, the film producer agreed, but on one condition, that they should have at least one acting job within the first month of their stay. Thankfully, the two sisters before the first month got jobs in commercials and other small roles.

Furthermore, after settling in California for four years, in 1994, the Mowry sisters were in the media headline for their appearance in the TV sitcom Sister, Sister. After their first successful project, the two appeared in Disney Channel Original Movie, Twitches and its sequel, Twitches Too.

Career: Singing

Other than acting, the twin sisters Tamera & Tia had also shown their interest in music, but for only a short time. Back in 1989, they formed a band named Voices in the presence of the members, Monique Wilson, Arike Rice, LaPetra McMoore, and LaToya McMoore.

The band gradually released their first album Just the Beginning… featuring three singles, one in 1992, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!  and the following year, M.M.D.R.N.F. (My Mama Didn’t Raise No Fool), and Cloudy with a Chance Of Tears.

But, looking commercially, all three singles were unsuccessful. The group disbanded after their third single and Tia and her twin sister were forced to leave the music band by their mother after a disagreement with management.

Similarly, Arike Rice, one of the members, officially left the Voices eight years after she became a member of another R&B girl group named Before Dark.

Not to forget Darlene’s other kids, her oldest son Tajh is also into acting plus singing. The handsome hunk is known for his appearance in a Disney Series, Smart Guy. Later, in 2007, he also worked in the film Are We Done Yet? which also featured rapper Ice Cube.
