Dagen McDowell is a Fox Business Network anchor and a business correspondent for the Fox News Channel. She has been the face of Fox’s finance reporting and discussions session since 2003 appearing daily on FBN’s Mornings with Maria.

Dagen McDowell (fully Mary Dagen McDowell) was born on January 7, 1969, in Campbell County, Virginia to Irish parents. The former student of Randolph-Henry High School graduated with a degree in art history from Wake Forest University in 1991. After that, she started her career as a financial journalist at the Institutional Investor’s Newsletter Division.

Before Fox News, the Brookneal-born anchor used to write a personal finance column for The Street under the title, Dear Dagen. She joined Fox News in September 2007 and since has been hosting the shows Mornings with Maria, Markets Now, Your World With Neil Cavuto, Cashin’ In, Cavuto on Business, Outnumbered, and The Five.

She Is A Vegan

McDowell practices plant-based diets; she has been clear about it through two of her tweets. On March 10, 2018, a random Twitter account asked if she eats chicken, were the chickens abused or mistreated in any way. This was after she had shared a journal about Wild Burd Fund, where the article was talking about how children were being taught regarding the disposable fate of chicks.  The questioner also went as far as making the point that the capons would have served two purposes with their inevitable deaths.

Seemingly getting irked by this writing, McDowell was quite caustic with her reply and accordingly wrote, “I am vegan, asshole, so no.” Later that same year, she once again brought up her veganism through her Twitter handle. The post since has been retweeted sixty-nine times.

Feud With Celebrities

In August 2018, she famously criticized then-president Donald Trump for giving an interview to Robert Muller neglecting the possibility of lying to the latter; “knowing he could face charges if he does so.”

Muller then was about to question Trump about possible obstruction of justice. In May 2021, she also censured Canadian actor, Seth Rogen for his take on cancel culture and political correctness. The Outnumbered host called the Superbad star a “bumbling bag of cowardice,” after he said actors ought to stop complaining and just accept it. In the video, she also went on to call him spine-free and otherwise not so hilarious.

Considering all of the above, one could hardly imagine the case where she is yet to diss a parliament member. Back in May 2019, Dagen took a mean approach to New York congresswoman, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. This was for her views on the “Green New Deal” and her 2020 presidential candidate endorsement. The host took a catty turn and took a cheap shot at the freshman congresswoman’s beauty and intelligence. She remarked to AOC with the quote, “beauty fades, stupid is forever.“
