Nancy Alspaugh is the ex-wife of popular American journalist and former TV host and news personality, Matt Lauer. Her ex-hubby is best known for his work with NBC news. Aside from his work in the news industry, he has made appearances on a live episode of Will & Grace.

Nancy is also quite famous herself as she has produced and written many popular talk shows and TV series. For her contribution, Alspaugh has received many honors and awards. Aside from her career in the entertainment industry, she is also an author.

She was born on 4th May 1955 and is currently 67 years old. Nancy shares a child with her late husband named Wyatt Jackson. As for her parents, Alspaugh hasn’t revealed much to the public.

Talking about her ethnicity, Nancy is Caucasian and has American nationality. As for her religion, she is Christian. Being a Christian, Alspaugh must be very devoted to her religion.

On the other hand, her ex-husband Matt had Romanian Jewish ancestry whereas her late husband H. Read Jackson was Caucasian and followed Christianity.

As mentioned earlier, she is mainly a writer and producer by profession. Nancy produced her first TV series called Likely Suspect in 1992. Popular actors and actresses played in this series including Sam McMurray, Jason Schombing, and Wendie Malick.

After her first series, Alspaugh produced a talk show called Vicki! in 1994. In the talk show, she discussed topics with different celebrities. This show received many awards including an Emmy.

Likewise in 1996, she produced another talk show The Bradshaw Difference hosted by self-help guru John Bradshaw. In the same year, Nancy produced a TV series called Caryl & Marilyn: Real Friends which lasted for a year. Popular stars like Marilyn Kentz, Caryl Kristensen, and Michael Nicklin starred in the series.

Besides her producing work, Nancy has written some episodes of Leeza. The talk show lasted for six years before shutting down.

Additionally, Nancy wrote a stage show called Boomer Babes in which she performed as well.

She Is Also An Author

As of 2022, Nancy has released two books. She released her first book, Not Your Mother’s Midlife: A Ten-Step Guide to Fearless Aging on April 2, 2003. This book was published by Andrews McMeel. This book received good comments from many of her fans.

After the success of her first book, Alspaugh released her second book named Fearless Women: Midlife Portraits on April 1, 2005. Looks like Nancy loves to release her books in April although this could be a coincidence. Stewart, Tabori, and Chang published this book.

Nancy hasn’t released any book for quite some time now and we guess her second book might be her last book. We hope she writes more books as her previous books received many good comments.

Nancy’s other ventures

As for her other ventures, she is a motivational speaker and a supporter of the autism group. Nancy has sold out many seminars where she talks about motivation and discipline.

Aside from this Nancy is the vice president of Group W Productions. Likewise, she is also an Executive director of the National Non-Profit Organization ACT Today!.

As mentioned earlier, Alspaugh has received many awards throughout her life including United Press International Award, the Associated Press Award, the Gabriel Award, and the Genesis Award. She has also been named Women To Watch by Hollywood reporters.

Nancy Alspaugh’s Marriage with Matt Lauer

Nancy and her ex-husband reportedly met each other in 1980. Soon after their meeting, the previous couple started dating each other. After dating each other for just a few months, Nancy and Matt walked down the aisle in 1981.

The ex-couple had a peaceful relationship for about seven years before filing for divorce. Nancy nor Matt disclosed the reason behind their divorce. The former couple decided to part ways in 1998. Throughout their marriage, Nancy and Matt didn’t have a child.

Her Second Marriage and Her partner’s Death

After separating ways from Matt, Nancy found love for the second time with H. Read Jackson. He was a former producer for 60 Minutes and ABC World News Tonight and an executive at Fox Sports Net.

Together the couple shared a son named Wyatt Jackson who, unfortunately, suffers from autism. Looks like because of her son’s condition she started supporting an autism group.

Sadly her husband passed away on January 25, 2016, after battling cancer for a long time. The place of his death was at an assisted living facility in Westlake Village.

H. Read Jackson’s memorial service was held at Prince Of Peace Episcopal Church in Woodland Hills. The date and time of the memorial service were February 20, 2016, at 11am.
