If you have been following American actor, comedian, and model, Carlos Ponce, then you might be aware of who Veronica Rubio is. Well, she is Ponce’s ex-wife. Ponce and Rubio were married for nearly one and a half-decade before they divorced in 2010. Well, besides being an ex celebrity spouse, Rubio is a photographer in herself.

She has been staying under the media radar ever since her divorce from her ex-husband, Carlos Ponce. So, many of her as well as Ponce’s fans wonder what she is doing nowadays. Here in this article, let’s try to find out Rubio’s whereabouts.

Besides, let’s also take a closer look at her early life, parents, siblings, and many more down below.

Veronica Rubio is of Cuban Descent

Veronica Rubio was born in Miami, Florida to her father Mario Rubio Reina, and mother Oriales Rubio (nee Garcia). Veronica’s birth date is not revealed, however, some sources have mentioned she was born in 1972. She is an American by nationality and is of Cuban descent.

Her parents immigrated to the United States from Cuba in 1956 during the regime of Fulgencio Batista, which apparently is 2 and a half years before Fidel Castro ascended to power. As a matter of fact, her parents became naturalized US citizens in 1975. Sadly, her father, Mario died at 83 in 2010 at Baptist Hospital of Miami after a long battle with emphysema and lung cancer.

Meanwhile, her mother, Oriales died at 88 on September 27, 2019. Veronica’s brother Marco took to his Instagram to announce the sad news. He wrote, “My mother Oria Rubio returned to be with the Lord on Friday night” in the caption. Here’s the post.

Rubio has three older siblings, brothers Mario and Marco Rubio and sister Barbara Rubio. She along with her siblings and parents lived in Las Vegas, Nevada in the late ’70s and early ’80s.

Her family was Catholic, however, while in Nevada, the family went to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While in Las Vegas, Rubio’s father worked as a bartender at Sam’s Town Hotel while her mother worked as a housekeeper at Imperial Palace Hotel and Casino.

Her Brother is a Senior US Senator

Veronica’s older brother, Marco Rubio is the senior US senator from Florida. Born on May 28, 1971, in Miami, Marco previously served as speaker of the Florida House of Representatives. Besides, Marco is a lawyer.

Talking about his private life, Marco is happily married to his wife, Jeanette Dousdebes since 1998. His spouse is a former bank teller and a Miami Dolphins cheerleader. As per the records, the pair tied the knot in a Catholic ceremony at the Church of the Little Flower. Marco shares four children with his wife, Dousdebes.

Did Her Family Flee Cuba?

Veronica’s brother, Marco Rubio had stated time and again that her family was forced to leave Cuba in 1959 following Fidel Castro’s rise to power. However, in October 2011, The Washington Post claimed that the Florida Senator embellished the facts.

The outlet went on to reveal that their parents’ naturalization papers and other official documents showed they had immigrated to the US a couple of years before Castro took the power. So, based on these facts, we can say Veronica Rubio’s family didn’t flee Cuba rather they migrated to America for a better lifestyle and opportunities.

Veronica Rubio Failed Marriage with Carlos Ponce-is a Mother of Four

Veronica has not revealed much about her love life and relationships. However, her relationship with actor and singer Carlos Ponce is all evident. She married the Puerto Rican actor in the mid-1990s.

If the sources are to be believed, Veronica and Marco are high school sweethearts. After dating for nearly one decade, the duo walked down the aisle in 1996 although the ex-pair didn’t reveal their marriage date.

The former husband-and-wife became parents of four from their long-time relationship. They welcomed their first child, a son Giancarlo in 1999. Two years later, they welcomed another son, Sebastian. And in 2002, Veronica and Ponce adopted twin daughters Savannah and Sienna from Russia.

Shortly after his divorce from Veronica, Ponce started dating Colombian actress Ximena Duque whom he dated for six years before splitting in 2016. Two years later, he started dating Karina.
