Veronica Rubio is of Cuban Descent
Veronica Rubio was born in Miami, Florida to her father Mario Rubio Reina, and mother Oriales Rubio (nee Garcia). Veronica’s birth date is not revealed, however, some sources have mentioned she was born in 1972. She is an American by nationality and is of Cuban descent.
Her parents immigrated to the United States from Cuba in 1956 during the regime of Fulgencio Batista, which apparently is 2 and a half years before Fidel Castro ascended to power. As a matter of fact, her parents became naturalized US citizens in 1975. Sadly, her father, Mario died at 83 in 2010 at the Baptist Hospital of Miami after a long battle with emphysema and lung cancer.

Rubio has three older siblings, brothers Mario and Marco Rubio and sister Barbara Rubio. She along with her siblings and parents lived in Las Vegas, Nevada in the late ’70s and early ’80s.
Her family was Catholic, however, while in Nevada, the family went to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While in Las Vegas, Rubio’s father worked as a bartender at Sam’s Town Hotel while her mother worked as a housekeeper at Imperial Palace Hotel and Casino.
Her Brother is a Senior US Senator
Veronica’s older brother, Marco Rubio is the senior US senator from Florida. Born on May 28, 1971, in Miami, Marco previously served as speaker of the Florida House of Representatives. Besides, Marco is a lawyer.
Talking about his private life, Marco is happily married to his wife, Jeanette Dousdebes since 1998. His spouse is a former bank teller and a Miami Dolphins cheerleader. Did Her Family Flee Cuba?
Veronica’s brother, Marco Rubio had stated time and again that her family was forced to leave Cuba in 1959 following Fidel Castro’s rise to power. However, in October 2011, The Washington Post claimed that the Florida Senator embellished the facts.
The outlet went on to reveal that their parents’ naturalization papers and other official documents showed they had immigrated to the US a couple of years before Castro took the power. So, based on these facts, we can say Veronica Rubio’s family didn’t flee Cuba rather they migrated to America for a better lifestyle and opportunities.
