Tran Jeong Married Life With Husband Ken Jeong

Tran and Ken have been together for nearly two decades. The couple first met when they were both working at Kaiser Permanente in Woodland Hills, California in 2002. They clicked and began dating right away. The duo tied the knot in September of 2004, in an intimate wedding ceremony.

From their marital relationship, the pair also gave birth to their fraternal twin daughters Alexa Jeong and Zooey Jeong on May 26, 2007, nearly three years after their marriage. Their seemingly perfect married life, however, had to pass through a narrow phase when Tran was diagnosed with cancer.

As of 2022, their daughters are only 15 so it might be too early to talk about Zooey and Alexa’s career choices. In an interview, when asked about his daughter’s career choice, Ken said,

“I don’t mind what they do. It would be hypocritical for me to mind what they do. But they want to be like mommy.”

Although we do know that both of the sisters are interested in their mother’s career and are thinking of pursuing medicine after high school.

Tran Jeong’s Fight With Cancer

Ken and Tran Jeong welcomed their twin daughters in the year 2007 and we’re excited to enter parenthood. But, their happiness didn’t last for long as a year later, Tran was diagnosed with stage III triple-negative breast cancer that apparently had less than a 23-percent chance of survival.

Tran’s husband Ken said, during the middle of the most challenging time of their lives, Tran stood strong. He further added that he was shocked and angry. But seeing how his wife Tran Jeong was facing her diagnosis, Ken realized he would have to stand up and be the man she needed him to be. That’s when he changed his mentality and gave her strength and with the help of humor tried to lessen the pain of those hard times.

Finally, after her grueling treatments which included 16 chemotherapy sessions, and a mastectomy, followed by radiation, Tran Jeong became cancer-free. After the exhausting two years, in 2010 the family of four regained their happiness after Trans won against cancer.

In 2011, on the occasion of Mother’s Day, Ken penned a lengthy blog in the Huffington Post, praising his wife’s courage to fight cancer. Ken expressed his relief after his wife won the battle with cancer in the blog writing,

“When Tran was told she was cancer-free, it was the greatest moment of my life. In a way, it surpassed our wedding and the birth of our girls because it meant that we would be able to celebrate both of those moments, for the rest of our lives.”

Ken further added that Tran Jeong fought back against cancer with everything for her daughters, so that they would grow up knowing a mother’s love, a mother’s instinct, and a mother’s touch.

Tran Motivated Ken To Follow His Passion

While Tran Jeong was still diagnosed with cancer, Ken got a call. A few months into Tran’s treatment, Ken was offered a role in The Hangover. He was going to turn it down, but Tran encouraged him not to. She would not let her diagnosis change their lives or strip them from their dreams.

For as long as they had known each other, Tran had been Ken’s biggest champion in his efforts to pursue a career in comedy. She knew this was his chance, and again, she selflessly put herself second. It was the hardest decision that Ken had to make, and there were days he thought he had made the biggest mistake.

Ken was ready to pack his bags and come home. But, Tran wouldn’t hear of it and continued to give Ken her love and support. He used his time on The Hangover as therapy — channeling all of his frustrations into that insane role that allowed Ken to act out in ways no human being ever should.
